Plot Synopsis

The Scarlet Knights are a chivalric order, a group of knights dedicated to fighting evil, protecting the innocent, winning honor for their loves, jousting for fun, slaying monsters, and generally riding around in shining armour being brave and heroic.

Deep in Ebonleaf Wood is an old hermitage hewn out of a cavern in a hillside. There, ages ago, the Knights established a meeting-place, a sanctum. The Scarlet Order meets at the Sanctum every Midsummer and Midwinter to feast, share news and tales of derring-do, and induct new members. They camp in the clearing before the cave, and the gloomy forest is — for a few days at least — alive with color, music, jousting, and dancing campfire flames.

Syr Tybalt of Towerford set forth with his squire, Moss, to check on the Sanctum and encamped in the traditional spot just outside. When the knight entered the chapel, his vigilance slept, as he expected no trouble. Thus the gargoyles lurking therein caught him by surprise. Even at his best, fully armed and alert, one knight — even a knight as renowned as Syr Tybalt — is no match for a gargle of gargoyles. Tybalt, clad as he was in only a mail shirt and armed with a dagger, was obliged to retire outside, his lance arm badly injured.

Why are the monsters there? Who sent them? Find out in Sanctum of the Scarlet Knights!
