Where We Stand

As part of the OSR community, Kabouter Games must make clear where we stand with regard to the ongoing kerfuffle surrounding the attempted revival of the most famous Old School brand: TSR.

For those unaware (gods, lucky you if you are), here’s the TL;DR – A group of people, including Ernie Gygax, Jr, is attempting to revive the TSR brand. Unfortunately, the group includes some frankly appalling figures who have been all over social media not exactly covering themselves in glory, he said with considerable understatement.

For years, some of us have been trying to reclaim the OSR’s reputation by removing or at least marginalizing toxic, racist, misogynist, bigoted assholes. The “New TSR” issue has highlighted just how far we have to go and how much more work we need to do.

Let me be clear: These loud-mouthed assholes are not the OSR and do not speak for the OSR. They certainly don’t speak for Kabouter Games.

At Kabouter Games, Black Lives Matter, trans rights are human rights, transmen are men, transwomen are women, loves is love, and we respect the pronouns you choose.

We support our LGBTQIA+ friends, family, co-creators, and fans. We are inclusive and feel that silence only supports the aggressor and the status quo.

We do not leave our politics at the door; they inform who we are, the games we create, and the games we play.

If you don’t like that, don’t leave some stupid message. Just fuck off.
